## BYLAW NO. 84-1
## A BYLAW FOR THE REGULATION AND CONTROL OF SNOWMOBILES PERMITTED TO BE OPERATED WITHIN THE CITY OF MELFORT
The Council of the City of Melfort, In the Province of Saskatchewan, in open assembly hereby enacts as follows:
- 1. This Bylaw shall be cited as "The Snowmobile Bylaw".
2. In this Bylaw, the terms "highway", 'Itcense", "operator", and "snowmobile" shall have the same meaning as provided in Ihe Snowmobile Act, 1978.
3. Notwithstanding the provisions contained in Subsection 1 of Section 21 of The Snowmobile Act, 1978, and subject to the following subparagraphs, It shall be lawful to operate a snowmobile between the hours of 7:00 o'clock a.m. and 11:00 o'clock p.m. on all highways within the corporate limits of the City of Melfort.
- (A) No person may operate a snowmoblle in the City of Melfort on:
- (a) Saskatchewan Avenue
- (b) Broadway Street
- (c) Star City Street
- (d) McDonald Road
- (e) Main Street
- Burrows Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (8) MacLeod Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (h) Crawford Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (I) Stovel Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (1) Bemister Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (k) Higgins Avenue (100 Block East and West)
- (1) Burns Avenue (100 Block East and West) except for the purpose of crossing the said highway.
- (B) Snowmoblles shall be operated in single file as far to the righthand side of the highway as is practicable.
- (C) No person shall operate a snowmobile on any highway within the corporate limits of the City of Melfort at a speed in excess of 30 kilometres per hour.
- (D) No person shall operate a snowmobile on any highway or portion of a highway within the corporate area of the City, except for the purpose of going from a point of origin within the City to a point outside the City, or for the purpose of returning to the said point. of origin from a point outside the City; provided that the corporate boundaries of the City are entered or exited at a point as near as possible to the point of origin and that the most direct and practical route possible between the point of entry or exit and the point of origin is taken.

- (E) No person shall operate a snowmobile on a highway within the corporate limits of the City of Melfort unless they are at least 16 years of age.
Notwithstanding the provisions of The Snowmobile Act,
- (a) It shall be lawlul to operate a snowmobile on a highway during an emergency when all other vehicular traffic is unable to travel on said highway due to snow or weather conditions;
- (b) It shall be lawful for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to operate a snowmobile on a highway at any time.
This Bylaw shall come Into force on the date of its approval by the. Highway Traffic Board.
