## BYLAW NO. 2022-01 ## WATER AND SEWER RATES BYLAW A Bylaw of the Town of Midale, in the Province of Saskatchewan, to Fix the Rates to Be Charged for the Use and Consumption of Water, and to Fix Rates to be Charged by Way of Rent or Service Charge for the Use of Sewer The Council of the Town of Midale, in the Province of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows: ## 1. SHORT TITLE - 1.1 This Bylaw may be cited as the Water and Sewer Rates Bylaw. ## 2. PURPOSE - 2.1 The purpose of this Bylaw is set rates and charges to be paid by the water consumers and anyone that utilizes sewer services within the Town of Midale. ## DEFINITIONS - Administrator - means the person appointed as the Administrator for the Town of Midale or his/her duly authorized representative or designate; - 3.1 For the purpose of this Bylaw, the following terms and words shall have the following meanings: - Council - means the elected officials of the Town of Midale; - Municipality - means the Town of Midale; ## PROVISIONS - 4.1 All persons desiring to be supplied with water from the Municipalities water supply shall make application to the Town of Midale office. Each application shall be accompanied with the payment of a Water Meter Deposit in the amount of one hundred ($100.00) dollars. - 4.2 The Municipality may, from time to time and as deemed necessary by Council, ration, restrict or limit the amount of water furnished to any or all water consumers, should the circumstances warrant such action. - 4.3 The charges to be paid by the water consumer whose water services has been turned on (or connected) shall be set forth in Schedule A attached; however, the minimum shall be payable in every case whether or not any water is consumed. - 4.4 The charges to be paid by persons who own or occupy premises drained or that are by bylaw required to be drained into the sewer shall pay for such services a rental rate or service charge in accordance with Schedule B attached. - 4.5 Accounts for water and/or sewer service shall cover a period of three (3) successive months. Accounts remaining unpaid ninety (90) days after billing will receive a letter of warning that if the account is not paid within ten (10) days of the receipt of the letter, the service shall be disconnected without further notice. - 4.6 Accounts that require a disconnection or reconnection of their water service shall be subject to a twenty-five ($25.00) dollar charge for reconnection applied to their account. - 4.7 Water meters shall be read quarterly; and this reading shall be provided to the Town Office as soon as practicable for the end of the quarterly billing period. ## REPEAL BYLAWS - 5.1 Bylaw No. 2018-08 be hereby repealed upon the date of this bylaw coming into force. ## COMING INTO FORCE - 6.1 The Bylaw shall come into force and take effect upon final approval of the Saskatchewan Municipal Board. All premises whether residential or commercial and excluding multiple unit dwellings, shall be billed quarterly and charged: 2. Midale Housing Authority shall be charged a rate of thirty ($30.00) dollars per each suite per month, billed quarter in the amount of ninety ($90.00) dollars per suite per billing cycle. 3. All premises whether residential, commercial or multiple unit dwellings shall be charged a levy of ten ($10.00) dollars per month per dwelling unit, billed quarterly in the amount of thirty ($30.00) dollars per billing cycle for infrastructure costs. Please be advised that the rates are not in effect until approved by the Local Government Committee as set out in the above mentioned legislation. The in force clause of the bylaw should be as follows: "THE rates, charges, tolls or rents contained in this bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the day of approval being issued by the Local Government Committee." Please use this wording for future utility rate applications.
