Bylaw #2021 - 02
A Bylaw of the Rural Municipality of Battle River #438
for Dog Control within the Municipality
The Council of the Rural Municipality of Battle River #438, in the Province of
Saskatchewan, hereby enact as follows:
1.
No dog shall run at large within the Municipality. A dog shall be deemed running
at large;
a) when it is beyond the boundaries of the land occupied by the owner
or caretaker of the dog,
b) or beyond the boundaries of any lands where there is written
permission by the owner or occupant of the land,
c) or when the dog is not in continuous charge of a person or
not securely confined within an enclosure or fastened so that it
cannot roam.
2.
Any person may kill a dog running at large on land owned or occupied by him/her
that is causing annoyance.
3.
The owner or caretaker of the dog that has been running at large, shall be
deemed guilty of an infraction of this bylaw.
4.
Any dog causing noise or annoyance to neighbors shall be reported to the
municipality. The Municipality will issue ONE warning to the owner, if noise or
annoyance continues, the owner shall be deemed guilty of an infraction of this
bylaw and be subject to the penalty clause in section (5).
Quiet Time shall be from the hours of 10:00 pm until 7:00 am.

Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this bylaw is guilty of an
infraction and liable to pay a penalty determined by Council of not less than fifty
($50) dollars and not more than five hundred ($500) per offence, payable to the
municipality. In default of payment the municipality shall add the costs to the dog
owners land in the tax roll , which are subject to further tax roll penalties if left
unpaid including tax enforcement.
6.
Specific to the Organized Hamlet of Delmas, there shall be a 2 dog limit per
household, with the exception of puppy litters which are exempt until they reach
3 months of age.
7.
Dog Control Bylaw #81-01 is hereby repealed.
