BYLAW NO. 01-2026
A BYLAW OF THE RURAL MUNICIAPLITY OF
PLEASANT VALLEY NO. 288
TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTROL OF DOGS RUNNING
AT LARGE IN THE MUNICIPALITY
The Council of the Rural Municipality of Pleasant Valley No. 288 in the Province of Saskatchewan,
enacts as follows:
1. No dog shall run at large in the Municipality or within the Hamlets of Anglia, Fiske and
McGee, and for the purpose of this bylaw, a dog shall be deemed to be running at large
when it is beyond the boundaries of the land occupied by the owner, possessor or
harbourer of the dog, or beyond the boundaries of any lands where it may be with the
permission of the owner or occupant of the said land and when it is not under control by
being:
a) In direct and continuous charge of a person competent to control it; or
b) Securely confined within an enclosure; or
c) On a leash which is under the direct control of the person who is in charge of the dog;
or
d) Securely fastened so that it cannot roam at will.
2. A person who owns, possesses or harbours a dog found running at large shall be deemed
guilty of an infraction of this Bylaw.
3. a) A person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Bylaw, shall be guilty of an
offence and upon conviction, shall be liable to a penalty of:
i)
First Occurrence: $100.00 municipal handling fee and payment of all
pound/kennel fees,
ii)
Second Occurrence: $200.00 municipal handling fee and payment of all
pound/kennel fees,
iii)
Third and Subsequent Occurrences: $300.00 municipal handling fee and
payment of all pound/kennel fees.
b) A violator of this Bylaw, upon being served with a Notice of Violation, may, during office
hours, voluntarily pay the penalty at the Municipal Office, and upon payment as so
provided, that person shall not be liable to prosecution of the offence.
c) The Notice of Violation shall be in "Form A" attached to and forming part of this Bylaw.
4. Bylaw No. 1-97 is hereby repealed.
