BYLAW #467/22
A BYLAW for the Town of Stoughton respecting Open Fires
The Council of the Town of Stoughton, in the Province of Saskatchewan enacts as follows:
This bylaw may be cited as the Fire Prevention Bylaw #467/22
1. In this Bylaw:
a. "Fire Department" means the Town of Stoughton Fire Department
b. "Fire Chief" means the Fire Chief of the Fire Department or such other persons who may be
appointed by the council to carry out the provisions of this bylaw.
c.
"Council" means the elected governing council of the Town of Stoughton
d. "Municipality" means the Town of Stoughton
2.
a. Open fire for the purpose of burning of household rubbish or other flammable combustible
waste materials within the Town of Stoughton is prohibited.
b. Open fires for recreational purposes shall be allowed on private property in the Municipality
and the Stoughton campgrounds subject to the following:
i.
Any open fires must be controlled and contained by utilizing a non-combustible
container or fire barricade erected in such a manner so as not to allow the fire to
spread on the ground.
ii.
No unattended outside burns are permitted.
iii.
Any recreational open fires shall be fully extinguished at the end of the activity.
c.
Where open fires are permitted in section 3, subsection (B), the owner, occupants of any
property or tenants of the Stoughton campground, having a fire for recreational purposes do
so at their own discretion and shall be liable for any damages to private or neighboring
properties resulting from smoke produced by said fire or from damages from the fire by the
way of sparks, embers or the spread of fire from one property to another.
d. This bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the date of final passing thereof.
