Bylaw Name: Utility Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw
A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF BASSANO IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, TO ESTABLISH THE
POSITION OF UTILITY FEES, RATES AND CHARGES.
WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Bassano in the Province of Alberta has the authority pursuant
to the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A. 2000, Chapter M-26, and amendments, to pass bylaws for
municipal purposes respecting public utilities;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Bassano wishes to establish fees, rates and charges for
the municipal utility services provided by the Town;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to the Section 191 of the Municipal Government Act, a council ts
authorized to amend a bylaw;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED under the authority and subject to the provision of the
Municipal Government Act, the Council of the Town of Bassano duly assembled, enacts and adopts
as follows the Utility Fees, Rates, and Charges, attached to and forming Schedule ‘A” of this Bylaw:
Short Title
1. This Bylaw may be referred to as the “Utility Rates Bylaw”
General Provisions

The fees, rates and charges contained in the attached Schedule “A” are hereby established.
3. Where this Bylaw establishes a fee that also exists in another Bylaw and Policy that predates
the effective date of this Bylaw, the fee in this Bylaw shall be the applicable fee and the other
Bylaw is hereby effectively amended.
4. Where the required fee is not specified in Schedule “A”, such fees shall be determined by
Council in a manner consistent with those fees listed in Schedule “A”.
Schedule
5. Schedule “A” forms part of this Bylaw.
Severability
6. Should any provision of this Bylaw be found invalid, the invalid provision shall be severed,
and the remaining Bylaw shall be maintained.
Repeal
7. Bylaw 947-25 is hereby repealed.
Enactment
8. This Bylaw shall come into full force and effect upon third and final reading.

2026 Utility Rates
The Town of Bassano’s utility rates are charged on a user pay model to achieve departmental cost
recovery. Rates for all utilities are charged whether a premise is improved property, vacant or
occupied.
Residential
Sewer $ 37.50

Water flat fee per account (bi-monthly) $ 27.00
Water (user pay) $2.85/m3 bi-monthly up to 80m3
