Terms of use

Effective October 4, 2026

These terms apply to the GovAnswers website, its free information tools and the Canadian GovAnswers plugin when available. The service is operated by Davie Lee, operating as HeyLily, a sole proprietorship. Questions can be sent to [email protected].

Information, not official decisions

GovAnswers helps you find and understand published municipal documents. It is an independent information service, not a government body or a provider of legal advice. Using it does not create a professional advisory relationship or constitute government approval.

Summaries, extracted facts, archived copies and AI-generated explanations can contain errors or omissions. Documents may have been amended, repealed, replaced or affected by other rules. Verification dates do not guarantee that a rule remains in force.

Read the cited official source and confirm important or unresolved details with the responsible authority before relying on an answer. Missing information does not establish that a rule does not exist or that an activity is allowed. Indexed bylaws do not establish today's emergency orders or other temporary restrictions.

Scope and availability

The Canadian plugin provides free bylaw lookups. It does not submit applications, obtain marriage licences, book appointments, pay fines or make purchases. The website and general API may offer a broader set of information and separately identified paid zoning features. Using the free plugin does not authorize a payment or include those paid features.

Coverage and features may change. Access may be interrupted for maintenance, technical problems or measures needed to protect the service. GovAnswers does not promise uninterrupted availability or a particular support response time.

Responsible use

You may use the public information tools for lawful research and questions. Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, bypass payment or access controls, or misrepresent GovAnswers as an official government service. Automated access should respect published technical limits and avoid requests that impair availability for others.

Sources and reuse

Municipal documents and other third-party materials remain subject to their owners' rights and any applicable reuse conditions. Access through GovAnswers does not grant rights beyond those you otherwise have. Keep source attribution when quoting or sharing information and do not present a GovAnswers summary as an official document.

Links to government websites, AI platforms and other third parties are provided for convenience. Their own terms and privacy practices apply when you use them.

Privacy

The privacy policy explains the information processed through the service, including technical logs, usage reports and support correspondence.

Service limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available, without a guarantee of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

Updates and contact

Changes to these terms will be posted here with a revised effective date. For questions, source corrections or concerns, contact [email protected] or visit Support & corrections.
