A BYLAW OF THE TOWN OF COALHURST IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA
"2026 FEES & RATES BYLAW"
WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended,
authorizes Council to pass a bylaw respecting the fees and rates a municipality may charge
for services rendered; and
WHEREAS the Access to Information Act, states that a municipality must make certain
information available to the public and that the Council may pass a bylaw to establish fees
for the provision of such information; and
WHEREAS the Council of the Town of Coalhurst, in the Province of Alberta deems it
expedient to consolidate the fees, rates, and charges for various municipal services;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Town of Coalhurst, duly
assembled, enacts as follows:
1.1
This bylaw may be cited as the "2026 Fees & Rates Bylaw".
1.2
This bylaw shall come into effect January 20, 2026.
2.1
In this bylaw, the following terms, phrases, words and their derivations shall
have the following meanings:
a) "Act" or "MGA" means the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter
M-26, as amended;
b) "Administration" means the administrative and operational arm of the
Municipality, comprised of the various departments and includes all
employees who operate under the leadership and supervision of the CAO:
c) "Chief Administrative Officer" or "CAO" means the person appointed to the
position in accordance with the MGA;
d) "Council" means the Council of the Town of Coalhurst;
e) "Session" means a continuous four-hour block of time;

f) "Town" means the Town of Coalhurst
2.2
The headings in this bylaw do not form part of this bylaw and shall not affect its
interpretation.
3.1
The fees, rates, and charges payable for municipal services provided by the
Town are outlined in Schedule A, which is attached to and forms part of this
Bylaw. Such fees may be subject to GST.
3.2
The rates specified in Schedule A, which is attached to this Bylaw, may be
amended from time to time upon recommendation of the CAO and shall be
approved by a Bylaw of Council.
3.3
Council may consider setting or permitting special rates for special
circumstances, special items, or individual agreements with outside parties for
any items not covered in Schedule A by way of Council resolution.
3.4
In the event this Bylaw conflicts with another existing Bylaw or Policy, this
Bylaw shall take precedence.
3.5
This Bylaw and Schedule A will be reviewed for amendments annually by
Administration as well as Council.
4.1
If any clause in this bylaw is found to be invalid, it shall be severed from the
remainder of the bylaw and shall not invalidate the whole bylaw.
5.1
With adoption of this bylaw, Bylaw No. 470-25, is hereby rescinded.
5.2
This Bylaw will take force and effect upon third and final reading and signing
thereof.
