# New LUB
The Town of Diamond Valley has launched a multi-year project to develop its first Land Use Bylaw, a key planning document that will guide how land is used and developed across the municipality.
A Land Use Bylaw serves as the Town's "rule book" for development. It divides land into districts, or zones, and outlines what uses are permitted, what can be built, and where different types of development may occur.
The project follows the amalgamation of the former Towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley. Diamond Valley currently operates under two separate Land Use Bylaws, which can create inconsistencies and confusion for residents, businesses, landowners, and developers. The new bylaw will unify these regulations into one modern, consistent, and user-friendly document.
The new Land Use Bylaw will align with Diamond Valley's 2025 Municipal Development Plan, which sets out the Town's long-term vision for growth. The project began in May 2026 and is anticipated to conclude in early 2028.
Work will include a review of existing documents, community and stakeholder engagement, development of regulations, preparation of the draft bylaw, public review and refinement, and final consideration by Council.
Community input will play an important role throughout the process. Residents, businesses, landowners, local developers, community organizations, and other interested parties are encouraged to stay informed and get involved.
