Transitioning to a daily rate rather than a monthly rate ensures each customer's bill accurately reflects the number of days in any given billing period. ## Residential water and wastewater These rates are effective April 1, 2026. Most customers pay about $74 per month for water usage on an average, single-family residential household bill. This does not include fixed fees. This amount may also fluctuate month-to-month, depending on how much water is used. #### Variable water charges are based on water use and meter readings. | Residential Consumption Charge (per m3) | 2026 Rate | | --- | --- | | 0 m3 - 10.0 m3 | $2.5258 | | 10.1 m3 - 35.0 m3 | $2.7593 | | Over 35.0 m3 | $3.4873 | | Fixed Daily Service Charge Per Meter Size | 2026 Daily Rate | | --- | --- | | 15mm (5/8") | $0.5359 | | 20mm (3/4") | $0.8042 | | 25mm (1") | $1.3401 | | 40mm (1 1/2") | $2.6798 | | 50mm (2") | $4.2875 | | 75mm (3") | $8.0397 | | 100mm (4") | $13.3996 | | 150mm (6") | $26.7981 | | 200mm (8") | $42.8775 | | 250mm (10") | $61.6366 | | 300mm (12") | $90.4715 | | Public Fire Protection Monthly Charge Per Meter Size | 2026 Daily Rate | | --- | --- | | 15mm (5/8") | $0.0963 | | 20mm (3/4") | $0.1440 | | 25mm (1") | $0.2407 | | 40mm (1 1/2") | $0.4810 | | 50mm (2") | $0.7700 | | 75mm (3") | $1.4430 | | 100mm (4") | $2.4059 | | 150mm (6") | $4.8118 | | 200mm (8") | $7.6984 | | 250mm (10") | $11.0670 | | 300mm (12") | $16.2437 | #### | Residential Consumption Charge (per m3) | 2026 Rate | | --- | --- | | All consumption | $1.3020 | | Fixed daily service charge | 2026 Rate | | --- | --- | | Fixed daily service charge | $0.2269 | #### **Sewer collection and transmission--variable rate** Variable sanitary charges are based on water use and meter readings. If no meter exists, sanitary charges are based on Wastewater Service Bylaw No. 20865. | Size | 2026 Rate | | --- | --- | | Residential | $1.27331 per m3 | **Sewer collection and transmission--fixed rate** | Meter Size | 2026 Daily Rate | | --- | --- | | 15mm | $0.3625 | | 20mm | $0.6524 | | 25mm | $1.0150 | | 40mm | $1.9576 | | 50mm | $2.6827 | | 75mm | $5.5432 | | 100mm | $10.3248 | | 150mm | $19.5299 | | 200mm | $31.1603 | | 250mm | $77.3296 | | 300mm | $77.3296 | | 400mm | $84.6166 | | 500 mm | $91.1061 | #### Stormwater utility charges cover the cost to build, operate, and maintain the stormwater infrastructure, which collects accumulated rainwater and snowmelt to prevent flooding and property damage. How is the Stormwater charge calculated? In accordance with the City of Edmonton EPCOR Wastewater Services Bylaw 20865, the daily stormwater charge is calculated using the following formula: **A x I x R x Rate**, where: **A: Area** - The area of the property in square metres (m2), and the proportion of the building lot area attributable to each unit for multiple units sharing a single building of property. **I: Development Intensity Factor** -The measure of the portion of lot being used for its intended development. The development intensity factor is 1.0 as default, except for commercial or multi-family residential properties where owners demonstrate they contribute significantly less stormwater runoff per property area to the City's sewer system during rainfalls than other similarly zoned properties by making an application for a reduction in the intensity development factor pursuant to the bylaw. **R: Runoff coefficient** - represents the portion of rainfall that becomes runoff and enters the stormwater system. The runoff coefficient relates to the portion of permeable and impermeable areas within your property and is determined based on the zoning. **Rate: The stormwater utility rate** - the daily rate as of April 1, 2026 is $0.00327. #### **Sewer obstruction investigation** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Service call for sewer obstruction investigation | $410.00 | | Removal of obstruction (sewer obstruction investigation required before removal; both fees will be applied) | $255.00 | | Second and subsequent sewer investigation appointments (within 30 days of initial service call) | $220.00 | | Missed obstruction removal appointment fee | $220.00 | | No-access fee | $220.00 | **Application fees** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Application to release matter | $210.00 | | Application to approve a compliance program | Subject to estimate based on cost of service | | Records search | $175.00 | | Application for stormwater intensity adjustment | $200 | **Missed flood appointment fee** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Missed flood assessment appointment fee | $60.00 | | Missed obstruction removal appointment fee | $220.00 | **Missed appointment credit** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Missed appointment credit | $35.00 | **Customer locate fee** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Customer locate fee | $20.00 | **Tampering or unauthorized use charge** | Type of fee | Cost | | --- | --- | | Tampering fee | Cost to repair plus $250.00 | **Truck-hauled wastewater** Sewage delivered by truck to the Poundmaker Wastewater Transfer Station (less the first steering axle): $28.65/axle. Wastewater having a settleable solids concentration greater than 100ml/l will be charged twice the rate of the above: $57.30/axle. **Drainage services record search** The cost of this service is $175.00 plus GST per titled lot and is invoiced the month after the record search is issued.
