## Planning & Development Are you looking to make an improvement on your property? Build a deck or a garage? Build a commercial development? Change the zoning on your property? Are you looking to subdivide your property into two or more lots? All of these developments involve the Planning Department. Planning is the lead department for all land development applications including Subdivisions, Land Use Amendments (Rezoning), Development Permits, Change of Use Permits, Demolition Permits and Sign Permits, to name a few. The Planning Department also prepares and maintains the Town's Inter-municipal Development Plan (IDP), Municipal Development Plan (MDP), and Land Use Bylaw (LUB), which form the basis for guiding growth and development in Edson. We would love to hear from you. A pre-application meeting is encouraged in your development process. We can answer your questions regarding your development goals or any other planning-related inquiries to help you get started. ## Land Use Bylaw 2296 The Land Use Bylaw (LUB) regulates the use and development of land and buildings within the Town of Edson. With all of the diverse developable lands our community has to offer, we strive to be developer friendly and look forward to all future developments in Edson. Land Use Bylaw Amendment 2332 passed May 19th, 2026. These amendments include correction to errors or omissions identified as a result of daily use and interpretation of the LUB, respond to unintended outcomes, and improve the consistency of application of the LUB. If you require a Statutory Plan or Land Use Bylaw Amendment, a pre-application meeting is recommended. **Book a meeting with our Planning department here.** Please find the application for Statutory Plan or Land Use Bylaw Amendment below: Statutory Plan and LUB Amendment Application **Land Use District Maps - Find your zone!** **For other Planning Bylaws and Policies please follow this link to the page.** ## A **Development Permit** is required before starting most types of property development within the Town of Edson.
