TOWN OF EDSON BYLAW NO. 2330 A Bylaw of the Town of Edson, following the provisions of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, C. M- 26, and amendments thereto, to establish Fees and Charges for municipal goods and services. Section 7 of the Municipal Government Act provides the statutory authority for Council to pass bylaws for municipal purposes and establishing services provided by or on behalf of the municipality. Section 8 of the Municipal Government Act provides the statutory authority for Council to establish a system of licences, permits, and approvals, and to set associated fees, including those that may function as a reasonable tax or be used for the purpose of raising revenue. Section 630.1 of the Municipal Government Act provides the statutory authority for Council to establish fees to charge for matters pursuant to Part 17 of the Act. The Council of the Town of Edson, in the Province of Alberta, enacts: 1. TITLE 1.1 This Bylaw may be called the "Fees and Charges Bylaw." 2. DEFINITIONS 2.1 In this Bylaw: a. "Act" means the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, c. M-26 and amendments thereto, together with any regulations made thereunder. b. "Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)" means the person appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer in accordance with the Act, or their designate. c. "Peace Officer" means a Person employed by the Town as a Community Peace Officer, a Bylaw Enforcement Officer, or a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to carry out the provisions of this Bylaw. d. "Town" means the Municipal Corporation of the Town of Edson, its administration and staff, agents, or representatives. 3. GENERAL PROVISIONS 3.1 The Fees and Charges set out in Schedule "A" attached to and forming part of this Bylaw will be the user fees, rates and charges in effect for the provision of municipal goods and services by the Town of Edson as outlined in the Schedule. Town of Edson Bylaw No. 2330 Page 2 of 20 3.2 If there are any inconsistencies between the Fees and Charges imposed pursuant to this Bylaw and those imposed by any other Bylaw of the Town of Edson, this Bylaw will take precedence. 3.3 This Bylaw will be reviewed annually by the respective department heads. 4. SEVERABILITY 4.1 If any provision of this Bylaw is declared invalid for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, all other provisions of this Bylaw will remain valid and enforceable. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE 5.1 Bylaw No. 2318, Bylaw No. 2323 and all amendments thereto are hereby repealed. 5.2 This Bylaw will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
