BYLAW OF THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF SILVER SANDS, IN THE PROVINCE OF
ALBERTA, TO ESTABLISH THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE INCORPORATED LIMITS OF
THE SUMMER VILLAGE OF SILVER SANDS.
WHEREAS the provisions of Section 108 of the Traffic Safety Act, a Council may prescribe a
maximum speed limit for a highway or any portion of a highway under the direction, control,
and management of the municipality that is greater or lower than 50km/hour;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Summer Village of Silver Sands duly assembled, enacts
as follows:
Citation
1. This bylaw may be cited as the "Speed Limits Bylaw".
Definitions
2. In this bylaw:
a) "Municipality" means the municipality of the Summer Village of Silver Sands, a
municipal corporation of the Province of Alberta and includes the area contained
within the boundaries of the municipality;
b) "Pedestrian" shall mean a person on foot, a person in or on a mobility aid, a person
on rollerblades or roller skates, a person riding an electric or power-assisted (but
non-motorized) device such as but not limited to; a bicycle, tricycle, unicycle, scooter
or skateboard.
General
3. THAT the speed limits within the incorporated limits of the Summer Village of Silver
Sands will be set as per Schedule "A" attached and as shown on the map as per
Schedule "B" attached.
4. THAT the R.C.M.P. and the Community Peace Officer(s) will be engaged to police
within the Summer Village of Silver Sands and as such are empowered to do so by this
bylaw.
5. THAT Bylaw No. 102 (1987) is hereby repealed.
6. THAT this Bylaw shall come into force and have effect on the date of the third and final
reading.
