# Fees, Rates, and Charges Bylaw Updates

Westlock County Planning and Development has updated Schedule "F" of the Fees, Rates and Charges bylaw (#51-2023) which will come into effect as of July 15, 2026.
Some of the key changes include:
Electrical, Gas, Plumbing, and Private Sewage Permit fees increased to align with the Alberta Safety Codes Council (ASCA). Building Permits have increased but remain lower than ASCA's recommended fee amount to ease the cost for residents.
The proposed Fees, Rates, and Charges were informed by both the recommendations of the ASCA and a review of fee structures implemented by neighboring municipalities.
