# Water & Waste

## Garbage Collection
Garbage is collected weekly on **Tuesdays**, beginning at **8:00 a.m.** If a statutory holiday falls on a Tuesday, garbage collection typically takes place on Wednesday instead.
If you need to make arrangements for off-schedule disposal of household garbage, please contact the Village Office.
* **Waste should placed curbside between 5:00 - 8:00 a.m. on collection day**
* **Waste should be bagged (maximum 10 kg per bag) and inside a lidded garbage can or bin**
* **Waste should not include recyclable material, hazardous material, construction material, discarded furniture or equipment**

## Recycling
*Recycling services are provided through the Regional District of Central Kootenay.*
The nearest recycling depot is located in New Denver:
**611 Slocan Ave, New Denver**
**Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday**
**10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.**

## Water Conservation
The Village of Silverton encourages all users to adopt water conservation measures.
Provincial resources about water conservation are available here.
**Note that the use of sprinklers is only permitted between 7-9 am and between 7-9 pm, during the months of May through September**.

## Water System
The Village of Silverton's water system is operated in accordance with Interior Health Authority standards for small water systems.
