Subject: Council Indemnity

BACKGROUND
Council of the Hamiota Municipality determined a need to clarify the application of the Hamiota Municipality By-Law 3/2015, BEING a By-Law of the Hamiota Municipality to set compensation for elected members of Council. It is passed under the authority of Section 124 of the Municipal Act. This Policy is intended to clarify travel for all members of the Hamiota Municipality Council (hereinafter referred to as Council).
POLICY/PROCEDURE
By-Law 3/2015 shall cover all members council to attend the annual Association of Manitoba Municipalities Annual Convention (AMM), AMM Mayors and Reeves Meeting, AMM Meetings, Manitoba Good Roads Annual Meeting and Banquet and Municipal Officials Seminar.
Each member of Council may attend two educational (2) seminars outside the Hamiota Municipality which are sponsored by either the AMM or Manitoba Association of Municipal Administrators per year.
Each member of Council may attend two (2) conferences per year outside the Hamiota Municipality which are sponsored by recognized Provincial Organizations i.e.; EMO, Planning Districts, Weed Districts etc.
Council members may request special consideration to attend other events which may be approved by a resolution of Council.
All approved travel for municipal business is subject to remuneration and expenses as per Section 124 of the Municipal Act and identified in the Hamiota Municipality By-Law 3/2015.
