Subject: High Pressure Equipment Policy

BACKGROUND
Public works staff are sometimes required to thaw water or sewer lines. As this can be one of the most dangerous jobs for staff there needs to be a policy in place for the operation of the Magikist pressure washer and the steamer.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
Magikist - Requires 2 employees at all times to operate this equipment. It often has to be hauled down to a basement to thaw water lines. As it is very heavy and awkward it requires more than one person to carry it.
Steamer - It is at the discretion of the staff to determine if more than one employee is needed to complete the thawing of the sewer lines. Protective clothing ( ie: fireman turnout gear) must be worn at all times. There must be safety goggles worn at all times.
Client must sign the bill outlining charges and the release form..
