Being a By-Law Relating to Traffic Control
THE TOWN OF HARTLAND, UNDER AUTHORITY VESTED IN IT BY THE MOTOR VEHICLE ACT, R. S.N. B. THERETO, HEREBY ENACT C.M. -1? THE FOLLOWING: 1973, SECTION 113, AS AMENDED
## INTERPRETATION
1. When used in this By-Law, the words defined in Section 1 of the Motor Vehicle Act, being Chapter M-17 of the Revised Statutes of New Brunswick, 1973 and Amendments thereto, have the same meaning as in the said Motor Vehicle Act unless
2. otherwise defined in this By-Law.
## STOPPING, STANDING OR PARKING OF VEHICLES
2. (1) No motor vehicle shall be parked other than at a parking space in Zones 1-5 and only vehicles displaying a spered parking 1, permit or plate can be parked in a designate space and if there is a parking space in a
2. parking zone, then:
3. (a) Parking spaces may be designated by lines and where there are such designations motor vehicle must be parked wholly between or within the lines and there shall be
4. no parking where any designation prohibits same.
5. Parking zones shall be these zones described in Schedule "A" hereto.
- (2) ZONE 1 - "United Baptist Church Parking Lot"
Parking shall be permitted as follows:
- (a)" Unlimited daily parking shall be be permitted to all spaces in Zone 1.
- (3) ZONE 2 - "Tourist Information Centre Parking Lot"
Parking shall be permitted as follows:
One space shall be reserved for handicapped persons.
- (b) Except for the reserved space in "Clause (a)" hereof, during the period of October 1 to May 14, unlimited daily parking shall be permitted at all spaces in Zone 2.
(c) During the period May 15 to September 30, parking shall be limited for a period up to two (2) hours.
- (4) ZONE 3 "Chestnut Library Parking Lot"
Parking shall be permitted as follows:
- Three spaces shall be reserved for patron parking Walter Chestnut Public Library.
- (b) One space shall be reserved for
- handicapped persons.
- C) The row of parking spaces immediatel; djacent to Main Street shall be limite
- to parking for one (1) hour.
- Id) The rows of parking spaces being the second and third rows from Main Street shall be limited for parking for a period
- not to exceed two (2) hours.
- (e) Unlimited daily parking shall be permitted on all other spaces in Zone 3.
- (5) ZONE 4 - "Medical Centre Parking Lot"
Parking shall be permitted ag follows:
(a) All spaces in this zone shall be reserved for clients attending the Courtyard Clinic.
- 16) ZONE 5 - "Orser Street Parking Lot"
Parking shall be permitted as follows:
(a) Unlimited daily parking shall be permitted in all spaces in Zone 5.

## ZONE 6 - "Street Parking"
Parking shall be pernitted on all streets except as follows:
- (a) No parking shali be permitted on Orser Street.
- (b) No parking shall be permitted on the western side of Main Street from a point being the intersection of the southern 1imits of the property owned by Hartland United Baptist Church north to the
- Becaguimac Stream.
- (c) No parking shall be permitted on the eastern side of Main Street between Prince Street north to the point being intersection of the northern limits of the property owned by Mid Valley Home Centre. g on contra
- (d) Two (2) parking spaces shall be
- reserved and designated as handicapped parking spaces on the East side of Main
- (e) Parking in spaces on the East side of and Maple Street shall be limited to a period not to

3. (1) Between the 15th day of November in each year and the 31st day of March next following, both dates inclusive, no person shall park a motor vehicle unattended on any highway or parking zone between

5. No driver of any vehicle shall park or stand the said vehicle on streets within the town between the hours of twelve (12) o'clock midnight and seven (7) O'clock forenoon.
6. Wherever parking spaces are designated by painted lines on a street, every motor vehicle must be parked wholly within or between such lines.
## RESERVED PARKING AREAS
7. The portions of highways and parking lesignated as reserved parking areas shall designated by appropriate signs or markings showing the limits

## RESTRICTED TRAFFIC
9. No person shall drive a motor vehicle that is larger than a truck of one-half (1/2) ton capacity, or farm tractor, or trailer on any street of the town other than a designated truck route except for the purpose of going to, stopping at or from a property adjoining said street, deliveries
## ONE-WAY HIGHWAYS
- (1) School Street shall be a one-way street between York Street and Orser Street.

## SPEED OF VEHICLES IN SCHOOL ZONES
11. No vehicle shall proceed at a speed in excess of the posted speed within a School Zone. i Designation of school zone shall be the portion of High Street from the Rockland Road to Orser Street, Orser Street to the intersection with School Street and School Street.
## THROUGH HIGHWAYS
12. (1) The following streets and portions of streets are designated through highways except where traffic is controlled traffic control signals, provision 1s made herein, stop signs shall be erected at all entrances hereof:

3. (c) Rockland Road
4. 1b) Orser Street
5. (d) High Street, from Orser Street to Rockland Road
6. le) Cloverdale Road (Route 575)
7. (E) Stop signs shall be erected at all places as set out in Schedule "B" hereto forming a part hereof.
- (3) Yield signs shall be erected at all places as set out in Schedule "C" hereto forming a part hereof.
## LANED HIGHWAYS
13. The following named streets or portions of streets shall be laned highways and divided into lanes for vehicular traffic by meane of dotted úi zolid yellüw lines:

- (d) High Street from Orser Street to Rockland Road
- (e) the Covered Bridge
## OPERATION OF BICYCLES
- No person shall operate a bicycle on any sidewalk except for the purpose of crossing same.
## PENALTIES
15. Every person violating any of the provisions of this ByLaw shall, conviction thereof, be subject to the following penalties:
2. (a) Parking: Twenty (20) dollars 1f paid within fortyeight (48) hours from date of violation; twenty-five (25) de Sumanenimum to a maximum of one hundred (100) dollars
## GENERAL
16. No driver of any vehicle shall make a "U" turn at the intersection of Main Street and the entrance to Covered Bridge.
By-Law E-2 is repealed.

- Comprising of that area lying west of Main Street of the property owned by Irving Oil Limited and south of ands owned by th Chestnut Public Library and being that approximate area shaded in "blue" on the map annexed hereto as Schedule "A-1".
- ZONE 4 Comprising of that ares lying south of Orser Street and bounded on the west by lands once used as a railway right of ay and on the east and south by lands owned by Craig's Machin hod Ltd. and being that approximate area shaded in "black" on th map annexed hereto as Schedule "A-1".
- ZONE 5 Comprising of that area bounded on the east and south by Orser Street and on by the Post and being e it approxid te the orth d in ye doved by Canada annexed hereto as Schedule "A-1".
