# Sewer Utility (WWTP)
**New Utility Rate Effective January 1, 2026**
Beginning in 2026, all municipal sewer users will pay a harmonized annual rate of $294 per year, per user unit *(billed at $147 per cycle - an increase of $7 per billing cycle for a typical user unit)*.

---
**Municipal sewer system** users can continue to make **e-Transfer payments** to [email protected] . *New*: e-Transfers now auto-deposit, no need to provide a password.
This rate applies to all customers on the:
* **Route 636 System**
* **Village System**
* **Charlie Little Road System**
**Why Are Rates Increasing?**
The updated rate reflects both rising operational costs and critical long-term infrastructure needs.
* **3.5% - Inflationary Pressures**: Increases in power, fuel, materials, insurance, and contracted services.
* **1.5% - Strategic Infrastructure Investment**: Targeted funding to begin addressing high-priority wastewater system upgrades, including items identified in the WWTP assessment.
This approach helps maintain system reliability today while preparing for tomorrow's growth.
**What's Planned for 2026?**
Several key projects are scheduled for the upcoming year:
* **Wastewater main repairs** along Kingfisher Shore Road
* **Rehabilitation work** at the Lake Shore lift station
* **Continued improvements** at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), including work toward addressing Cell #1 dredging requirements and other identified deficiencies.
These investments support service reliability, environmental protection, and future capacity needs.
**Looking Ahead**
HRC is actively pursing external funding for the dredging of WWTP Cell #1, a major project required to support current users and future development.
If successful, this funding could:
* Prevent more than $250,000 in project costs from being passed to current users, and
* Improve the long-term outlook for future utility rates.
We will continue to keep residents updated as funding decisions are announced.
**What This Means for You**
* New rates take effect January 1, 2026
* The increase will first appear on your January 2026 utility bill
* Typical impact: $7 per billing cycle for one user unit.
* Payments can continue to be made by e-Transfer to [email protected]
Thank you for your understanding as we invest in essential wastewater infrastructure that protects our environment, supports community growth, and keeps our system running safely and reliability.
