# Water and Wastewater
The Municipality of the County of Antigonish provides water and wastewater services to residents and businesses within designated service areas.
This page provides information about water and sewer permits, billing, and payment options.
#### Water and Sewer Permits
A permit is required before installing a water or sewer line lateral. Applications to install Water and/or Sewer Line Lateral Installation Permit are available at:
Municipal Administration Centre (285 Beech Hill Road) or
Public Works Building (261 Beech Hill Road).

Completed applications can be dropped off at the Municipal Administration Office.
#### Water Billing
The Municipality's water service is provided through the Antigonish County Water Utility.
On November 25, 2020, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish received a decision from the Nova Scotia and Utility Review Board (NSUARB) to approval to amalgamate the two existing water utilities (Fringe Area and Lower South River & Area) into one utility named the Antigonish County Water Utility. The decision (Order number M09784) also included the authorization and approval of a new Schedule of Rates and Charges for Water and Water Services and a Schedule of Rules and Regulations.

Commercial water bills are based on a meter reading and are billed in accordance with NSUARB approved rates.
#### Sewer Billing
Sewer charges are issued once per year and are included on your property tax bill. Residential sewer rates are based on user units, with adjustments made for properties that include apartments. Commercial sewer charges are calculated based on building square footage.
#### Water and Sewer Bill Payment Options
Water and sewer bill payments can be made using the following methods:
**In person**
Visit the Municipal Administration Centre (285 Beech Hill Road) and pay by debit, credit card, cash, cheque, or money order (payable to the Municipality of the County of Antigonish).
**By mail**
Send a cheque or money order (payable to the Municipality of the County of Antigonish) to:

**By telephone**
Call (902) 863-1117 to pay by credit card.
**Through your financial institution**
Payments can be made through most banks and credit unions, including at ATMs or via online and telephone banking.
