# Pool and Spa Permit Type Building and Construction A permit for **new** or **replacement** of apool (above ground and inground), a hot tub or a spa is **always** required. Installing a swimming pool, hot tub, or spa is exciting -- but it also comes with safety responsibilities. A pool and spa permit ensures that your installation meets the local municipal by-laws. **The permit process helps:** * **Protect safety** - by making sure barriers, fencing, gates, and covers prevent accidents, especially for children. * **Ensure compliance** - pools and spas must meet zoning requirements (like setbacks from property lines, easements, or utilities). * **Prevent hazards** - inspectors review plans to confirm all elements are safe. * **Protect your investment** - proper approvals reduce the risk of costly changes or liability issues later. **📞 Questions for the Building Department:**613-673-4797 (ext. 4) **📧 Email:**[email protected] The pool and spa permit application can be submitted by email at [email protected] or in person at City Hall along with the pool & spa site plan. ## Required Forms * Completed pool/spa permit application form; available here Pool & Spa Permit Application Form * Site plan showing the location of the pool/spa, existing structures, septic system, and well if applicable.
