# Water and Wastewater Rates
The City of Belleville charges utility rates to cover the cost of delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater. These fees help maintain infrastructure and ensure reliable services for residents and businesses.
## What the Rates Cover
Water rates pay for:
* sourcing and treating drinking water
* operating water treatment plants and distribution systems

Wastewater rates pay for:

* treating wastewater at the Water Pollution Control Plant
