# Waste and Recycling Services
## Waste Services
The County of Dufferin provides waste management services to the residents of the Township of East Garafraxa.
For more information on services available, schedules and contact information, please visit the County of Dufferin Waste Services.
If your Green Bin or small kitchen container is broken, bring it in! We will have it recycled and give you a new one. If you are a new resident, the Township will provide you with a Green Bin and a small kitchen container for your organics.
Garbage tags are also available for residents at the Township Office.
## Recycling Services
Effective **July 1, 2023**, the Blue Box program transitioned to be overseen by **Circular Materials**.
Starting in April 2026, recycling in Dufferin County will be even more convenient with a new recycling cart. Carts will be delivered in March and can be used as of April 1, 2026.

What if I missed the deadline for the 240L Recycling Cart?
Circular Materials recommends using the 360L recycling cart for at least 90 days to evaluate your household recycling needs and the below considerations:
* **Expanded List of Accepted Materials:** With advancements in the recycling system, residents will now be able to recycle more materials such as hot and cold beverage cups, black plastic containers, frozen juice cans, ice cream tubs, deodorant and toothpaste tubes. This expanded list of materials will increase the volume of recyclable materials generated and collected from households.
* **All Materials Must be Inside the Cart for Collection:** All materials must be placed inside the recycling cart, with the lid fully closed to be ready for collection pick up. Please note, **materials placed outside the recycling cart will not be collected.**
* **Weekly Collection Schedule:** Recycling collection service in Dufferin County will remain weekly.
If, after using the new 360L cart for 90 days, residents determine that a smaller cart size is required going forward, please send an email to [email protected] to express your interest in exchanging for a smaller 240L cart size in the future. Please note, any future cart exchanges will depend on cart manufacturer inventories and production schedules.
