# Parking
**Parking in Essa**
Parking is regulated under the Township's Parking By-law. Always check posted signs before parking, as restrictions may apply based on time or location.
**Seasonal Overnight Parking Ban**
From **November 1 to May 1**, overnight parking is **not permitted between 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.** on any street or highway -- even if there is no snow. Violators may be ticketed or towed.
**General Parking Rules**
Avoid parking:
* On sidewalks, boulevards, or crosswalks
* Within 1.5 m of laneway or driveway
* Within 9 m of a fire hydrant or intersection
* On private property without permission
* On municipal property without permission
* In any way that blocks traffic, snow removal, or other vehicles (Regardless of Time)

Essa's Parking By-law aims to alleviate road congestion by restricting the parking of commercial vehicles, large motor vehicles, heavy motor vehicles and trailers to a maximum of 5 hours, regardless of signage. Please refer to Essa Township's By-law page to review the most accurate Parking By-law and provisions for parking of commercial, large motor vehicle, heavy motor vehicle and trailers on residential roads.
Essa has implemented seasonal parking restrictions to allow for snowplows to clear the roadways. Parking is prohibited on streets and highways between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. from November 1st to May 1st each calendar year. This restriction allows for snow plowing operations to remain uninterrupted. Vehicles parked on the roadway during the restricted time period may be ticketed and/or towed away.
