THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY
OF OLIVER PAIPOONGE
BY-LAW NO. 1057 - 2017
A By-law to set water rates for the Rosslyn Village Drinking Water System
WHEREAS the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, Chapter 25, Section 391, provides that a
municipality may pass by-laws imposing fees or charges on any class of persons, for services
provided or done by or on behalf of it; and for costs payable by it for services or activities provided
by or done by or on behalf of any other municipality or local board;
AND WHEREAS Section 398 (2) of the Act, states that the Treasurer of a local municipality may
add fees and charges imposed by the Municipality under this Part to the tax roll and collect them in
the same manner as municipal taxes;
AND WHEREAS the Council finds it desirable to establish water rates for the Rosslyn Village
Drinking Water Sytem;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF
OLIVER PAIPOONGE ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The water rate shall be $130.00 per month for water users connected to the System.
2. The Municipality may shut-off the water supply for non-payment of water charges.
3. Interest shall be added to overdue water charges at the rate of 1 % % (one and one quarter
percent) per month commencing on the day following the due date. Interest shall begin to be
applied on February 1, 2018. Water charges incurred prior to January 1, 2018 are subject to
interest charges under this by-law.
4. That this by-law shall come into force and take effect on January 1, 2018.
Enacted and passed this 11" of December, A.D. 2017, as witnessed by the Seal of the Corporation and
the hands of its proper Officers.
