| Different ways to pay your water bill |
| We have a number of options for you to choose to pay your water bill, select that option that suits you best. | | | --- | | Virtual Town Hall (online portal) | | This is an online portal for residents that is a one stop shop! Track, view and pay your property tax and water and wastewater bills online, all in one convenient location. Learn about Virtual Town Hall | | In-person | | You can place your payment in the drop-box mail slot at Town Hall, 56 Queen Street. All cheques are made payable to the "Municipality of Port Hope." Please include your water and wastewater bill payment stub or write your account number on your cheque. Alternatively, visit us in person at Town Hall, 56 Queen Street at the Finance Department anytime during regular business hours. | | By Mail | | You can mail your cheque to Town Hall 56 Queen Street, Port Hope Ontario, L1A 3Z9. Please include your water and wastewater bill payment stub or write your account number on your cheque. | | Bank Institution | | You can pay through your bank institution by telephone or in person. You will need your water and wastewater payment stub to refer to your account number. | Different ways to receive your water bill |
| | | | --- | | By Mail | | This is our default method for delivering your water and wastewater bills upon creation of your account with us. If you are a new resident, moving or changing addresses see below for instructions on how to ensure you don't miss a payment. Please note: any notice sent by ordinary mail is considered delivered to and received by the addressee within three business days unless it is returned by the Post Office, or an error in the mailing address is proven. Failure to notify the Finance Office of an address change in writing is not an error. Failure to receive a water and wastewater bill does not exempt the customer from late payment charges. Please ensure the Municipality's Finance Department has your correct mailing address. | | e-Billing (email) | | E-billing is available for tax and water/wastewater accounts. | Water rates, fees and charges |
| Our water and wastewater service is financially self-sustaining and does not rely on property taxes. We review our rates every five years. Water and wastewater rates will increase every year until 2029. These increases are based on the Water and Wastewater Rate Study that was approved by Council.
