## Information on Collections
### Garbage Collection - Russell Township

Solid waste collection is fully automated in Russell Township. Please ensure that you use the 120L black (charcoal) bins.
* You can put multiple bags as long as they fit inside the bin.
* The collection is now automated and only waste placed in the black bin will be collected.
* Loose garbage bags will no longer be collected.
* Garbage tags are no longer used.
How to place your bin:
* Position your bin with the wheels facing away from the street.
* Leave at least 2 feet (60 cm) of space between your bin, recycling boxes, or other obstacles so the truck can safely pick it up.
Stay up to date by subscribing to news alerts or by subscribing to Recycle Coach, see at the top of this page or download the Recycle Coach app today!
For questions, email the Infrastructure Department or call 613-443-1747.
When there is a statutory holiday, your collection may be delayed by one day. See the calendar for details.
### Recycling Collection - Miller Waste

As of January 1, 2026, Ontario has transitioned to an enhanced recycling system. This means that the Township of Russell no longer manages any recycling. Ontarians will be able to recycle the same materials at the curb no matter where they are across the province and be able to recycle more materials than ever before! This new system follows Ontario's two-and-a-half-year transition to an extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework for blue box materials.
#### Questions?
* Collection and bins: contact Miller Waste at [email protected] or 1-888-852-2374
* Program and what can be recycled: visit Circular Material for more information
What does this transition mean for residents?
* Ability to recycle more materials through an improved, Ontario wide recycling system.
* Standardized list of materials to make recycling consistent throughout the province. View the list here.
* Focus on a circular economy, where materials are collected, recycled and used again as recycled content in new packaging and products.
## Bins for New Residents
* **Blue and grey recycling bins:** Contact Miller Waste at [email protected] or 1-888-852-2374. The Township is no longer responsible for the recycling collection and bins.
* **Organic (green) and waste (black/charcoal):** You can reach us by email at Infrastructure Department or by phone at 613-443-1747.
## Report a Missed Waste or Organic Collection
If your waste or organic was at the curb before 7:00 a.m., met the Solid Waste By-Law requirements, and was not picked up, please contact our Infrastructure Department.
Please note if you put your waste out after 7:00 a.m., the contractor will not return to collect your items.
Report a Missed Collection
## Dumpsters
Township of Russell is not responsible for the collection service of waste dumpsters. It is the responsibility of the waste dumpster renter or owner to contact a contractor to arrange this service.
