# Parking
Parking in Severn is regulated through the Parking By-law.
## Parking restrictions
Always abide by parking and traffic control signs. If you don't follow these restrictions and regulations, you may receive a fine.
No person can stop, stand or park a vehicle in the following places:
* on a sidewalk or on a boulevard
* within three metres of a point in the edge of a roadway and nearest a fire hydrant
* in front of or within two metres of a public or private driveway
* in front of or blocking access gates along Uhthoff Recreational Trail System
* in front of or within 15 metres of an entrance of a fire hall or on the side of the highway on which the fire hall is located
* on the opposite side of a highway from a fire hall and within 15 metres of the entrance
* on private property without permission
* within nine metres of an intersection
* on or within three metres of a crosswalk
* on any bridge or approaches
* double parked beside another vehicle
* in a way that blocks the removal of another vehicle
Always view the posted parking signs before parking on a street. Parking is regulated on certain streets during specific times. For a complete list of street parking, view the Parking By-law.

The parking of vehicles is prohibited overnight with the exception of the following locations and conditions.
1. **6667 Upper Big Chute Road**:
* the parking lot at the corner of Graham Road and Upper Big Chute Road
* all vehicles permitted except commercial vehicles
2. **4351 050 005 25920**:
* the parking lot on Upper Big Chute Road near Tamarack Lane
* all vehicles permitted except commercial vehicles
3. **Fire Hall Lane**:
* the parking lot between Fire Hall Lane and Joseph Street, passenger vehicles (cars, minivans, trucks) permitted
* trailers, motorhomes/RV's, recreational vehicles, and commercial vehicles prohibited
4. **11 Michael Anne Drive**:
* the parking lot beside the Coldwater Community Centre
* passenger vehicles (cars, minivans, trucks) permitted
* trailers, motorhomes/RV's, recreational vehicles, and commercial vehicles prohibited
The parking of vehicles is prohibited along the following streets per Schedule A to the Parking By-law:
1. The West side of River Street from a point of 60 metres south of the village dock to the Harriet Street intersection
2. The north side of Sturgeon Bay Road form the Rick Hansen Bridge to the intersection of Sheridan Drive
3. Both sides of the Rick Hansen Bridge on Sturgeon Bay Road
4. Both sides of Mill Street from the west side of Coldwater Road to the east side of Eplett Street
5. Both sides of the laneways abutting the north and south sides of the Coldwater Community Centre
6. Both sides of Division Road East and Division Road West, with the exception of the north side between Martindale Crescent and Wainman Line
7. Both sides of Hepinstall Landing from Hamilton Street to Edgar Street
8. Both sides of Port Stanton Parkway from South Sparrow Lake Road to Torpitt Road
9. Both sides of Centre Avenue from Telford Line to end
10. Both sides of Buena Vista Drive from the north limit of Highview Avenue to the south limit of Armand Avenue
11. Both sides of South Sparrow Lake Road from Hawkins Drive to Lake St. George Boulevard
12. Both sides of Nichols Line from Cambrian Road to the north limit of Nichols Line
13. Both sides of Hedgemere Landing from Bayou Road to Lake Couchiching
14. West side of Henrys Landing along the municipal roadway where it exists of the parking area to the end of the roadway on the south side
15. Both sides of Quetton Street from County Road 169 to the Quetton Street dock
16. Both sides of Quetton Street form south of the entrance to Washago Centennial Park to the Quetton Street dock
17. South side of Gray Street from River Street to Anderson Line
18. North side of Gray Street from River Street to Firehall Lane
19. Sheridan Drive south from Riverwalk Drive including the turnaround
20. North side of Port Severn Road from St. Amant Road west to Stonewall Lane
21. West side of Port Severn Road from Marine Drive north to Kellys Road
22. West side of Kellys Road from Port Severn Road east to Blake Avenue
23. West side of Coldwater Road from Michael Anne Drive to 20 metres North of Mill Street
24. East side of Coldwater Road from Mill Street to 20 metres North of Mill Street
25. Both sides of Firehall Lane
26. Both sides of Nichols Line 250 metres north of Cambrian Road to end
## Paying a parking ticket
If you have received a Parking Infraction (parking ticket), please refer to the back of your ticket for complete details.
Voluntary payment can be made within seven to fifteen days of receiving the ticket at our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane). Please confirm the amount of the payment on the front of your ticket.
We are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We accept payments by cash, credit card (Mastercard or Visa only), debit, or cheque. Please make your cheque payable to Township of Severn.
If you choose to pay using Mastercard or Visa, a two percent fee will be applied to your bill. The Township is required to pay a merchant fee (surcharge) to cover the cost of processing each credit card transaction. This fee is applied as a cost-recovery measure to only those transactions that are paid by credit card, and not to other forms of payment.
You can also place your payment as noted on the front of your Parking Infraction ticket in the after-hours drop box located outside the front of the Administration Office.

## Accessible parking
There are accessible parking spaces located throughout Severn. These spaces are designated with an accessible parking sign. In order to use an accessible parking space, you must:
* properly display an accessible parking permit in your vehicle
* be an individual with a disability or be transporting someone with a disability
If you own or operate a public parking area in Severn, you must provide designated accessible parking spaces. Accessible parking spaces must be:
* three and a half metres in width
* of the same length as other parking space in the parking area
* hard surfaced
* level
* located so that they are readily accessible to via ramps, depressed curbs or other means
* located within easy access of the building or complex the parking area serves
* identified by signs that meet the regulations in the Highway Traffic Act
* kept free from obstructions such as snow, ice, slush or other debris
## Winter parking restrictions
In order to allow snowplows to clear the roadways, we've put in place seasonal parking restrictions. From December 1 to March 31, you are not permitted to park on a road between the hours of 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
