# Water and Sewer Services
The City of Thorold, in conjunction with the Niagara Region, provides safe, high quality drinking water to residents - 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through strategic reinvestment in our water and wastewater infrastructure, we help to ensure it remains in a state of good repair.
###### Thorold's water and wastewater rates support:
* safe, high quality drinking water that meets or exceeds all Provincial standards;
* wastewater services that meet the needs of the community and protect the environment; and
* well-planned and sustainable infrastructure.
The Public Works Department maintains all municipal infrastructure including watermain and service repairs, meter installation and repairs, sewer main and service repairs and cleaning. Information regarding the billing for water and sewer consumption can be found at Water and Sewer Billing.
###### Water Rate and Sewer Fees
Charge for Shut-off or Turn-on of Services
(a) $96.00 (plus HST) during normal working hours for maintenance
(b) $115.00 (plus HST) during normal working hours for arrears
(c) Actual cost outside normal working hours
Charge for Meter Removal and Reinstallation
(a) $ 96.00 during normal working hours for removal
(b) $142.00 during normal working hours for reinstallation
(c) Actual cost outside normal working hours

Demolition - Flat Charge for disconnection at main when demolition permit is issued
