HOW TO USE THIS BY-LAW
In this By-law,
the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is
divided into land use areas or I'zones", which are shown on Maps 2
to 13 in Schedule "A". You can find out which Map to refer to by
looking at Map 1, which divides the Town into 13 areas; this
enables detail to be given on a larger scale, so you can more
easily pinpoint the parcel in which you are interested. Once you
have located the particular parcel, you will find that it is
within a zone enclosed by a heavy black boundary. Within this
boundary you will find at least one letter in heavy print (for
example, lor RU), but you could see a total of up to 6 letters
or symbols (for example, IL-W-D). The first letters are the
zoning symbol; this symbol designates the land use zone, the
provisions affecting which are contained in one of Sections 3 to
8 inclusive. For example, if the zoning symbol is R, then the
zone is a Residential Zone, and the provisions relating to that
zone will be found in Section 3. The text of the relevant section
will refer you to one or more Tables, which will inform you of
the permitted uses and the regulations which apply in the zone
containing the land in which you are interested.
If any of the letters D, W or F appear after the zoning
symbol, then the land is subject to the additional regulations
contained in whichever of Sections 9 and 10 are applicable.
iv
You should examine Section 11, the provisions of which apply
to all lands in the Town. As well, the exceptions contained in
Section 18 should be checked in order to determine whether or not
the parcel in which you are interested is affected by any special
provision.
Finally, it is always prudent to inquire at the Town as to
whether or not there have been any amendments to the By-law which
may affect the parcel you are interested in.
NOTE:
All measurements in this By-law are given in metric units.
1 metre converts to 3.281 feet,
1 metre 2 converts to
10.765 square feet, and 1 hectare (10,000 metres 2 )
converts to 2.471 acres.
