Do I need a permit to cut down a tree?

In the City of Regina, Saskatchewan, trees & tree removal rules are set by City of Regina Forestry Bylaw No. 2002-48, verified 2026-09-27. Fines: not exceeding $2,000.00 (individual); not exceeding $5,000.00 (corporation). Protected threshold: Established Tree on Public Land; Tree defined as living woody plant with one or more stems, minimum caliper width 2.5 cm and minimum height 1.5 m. Boulevard trees: No person other than Director shall damage, disturb, prune or remove any Public Tree; overhanging Street trees pruned to at least six metres.
