In the Rural Municipality of Excel No. 71, Saskatchewan, backyard hens & livestock rules are set by Rural Municipality of Excel No. 71 Bylaw No. 13-2025 (Livestock Control in Hamlets, repeals 4-2022) and 1 other bylaw, verified 2026-09-27. Livestock rule: No person shall keep any livestock in any Hamlet except in accordance with this bylaw; permitted in Hamlet District (H) per schedule. Setback: 30 metres from any new or existing dwelling, structure, well, or property line not owned by the owner of the animal(s).

Country Residential district: 2 animal units per 5 acres, 4 units per 10 acres (+1 per extra 1.2ha); 15m setback from dwellings/wells, 30m for structures; vacant lots may not be used to pasture animals; Hamlet District livestock governed by the separate Livestock Control Bylaw.
