## R.M. OF FRONTIER NO. 19 BYLAW NO. 157-2023 SPEED LIMIT BYLAW ## A BYLAW TO REGULATE THE SPEED OF MOTOR VEHICLES. The Council of the Rural Municipality of Frontier No. 19 in the Province of Saskatchewan pursuant to Section 8 and 12 of The Municipalities Act enacts as follows; 1. This Bylaw may be referred to as Speed Limit Bylaw 2. This Bylaw is intended to: - a) Identify areas within the Municipality where reduced speed is limited and; - b) Set out penalties and/or fines for those persons who exceed the speed limits in the reduces zones on public highways. 3. In this Bylaw: - a) "highway" shall mean the public highway or roadway within the Municipality under the direction, control, and management of the Municipality; - b) "Public highway" shall mean a public highway as defined by The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997; and - c) "Motor vehicle" shall mean a motor vehicle as defined by or pursuant to The Traffic Safety Act; and - d) "Municipality" shall mean the Rural Municipality of Frontier No 19. 4. Provisions of the Bylaw; - a) No Person shall operate a motor vehicle at a greater speed than which is posted on any highway. - b) Motor vehicles weighing over 8 tonnes shall have a maximum posted speed limit of 60Km/hr. within the Rural Municipality of Frontier no. 19 - S. Enforcement of this Bylaw: - a) A person who contravenes any of the provisions of the Bylaw is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a penalty of that identified in the Highways and Transportation Act, 1997. - b) Enforcement of this Bylaw may be made by the RCMP and/or a Bylaw Enforcement Officer if appointed for the enforcement of Municipal Bylaws through resolution of Council. 6. This Bylaw shall come into effect upon passing. 7.
