1 | P a g e BYLAW 2021-11 Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 A BYLAW TO REGULATE THE SPEED LIMIT OF MOTOR VEHICLES The Council of the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 in the Province of Saskatchewan enacts as follows: 1. Short Title This Bylaw may be referred to as the Speed Limit Bylaw. 2. Purpose and Intent This bylaw is intended for: - Identify areas within the Rural Municipality of Lajord No. 128 where reduced speed is limited and; - Set out the penalties and/or fines for those persons who exceed the speed limits in the reduced zones on public highways 3. Definitions In this bylaw: - "highway" means any public highway or roadway within the Municipality under the direction, control and management of the Municipality and "public highway" means a public highway as defined by The Highways and Transportation act, 1997. - "vehicle" means a motor vehicle as defined by or pursuant to The Traffic Safety Act. 4. Provisions - No person shall operate a vehicle at a greater speed than 60 kilometres per hour on a public highway, which are identified in Schedule A. - Signs indicating the maximum speed allowed shall be erected on all roads as indicated in Schedule A, and shall be placed at the point of entry or commencement of any speed zone area. 5. Enforcement - A person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Bylaw is guilty of an offence and liable on summary convention to a penalty of that identified in The Highway and Transportation Act, 1997. - Enforcement of this Bylaw may be by a Bylaw Enforcement Officer and/or Peace Officer duly appointed for the enforcement of Municipal Bylaws through a resolution of Council. 2 | P a g e 6. Coming into Force This bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the date of its final reading and approval of Council.
