R.M. OF SWIFT CURRENT NO. 137
BYLAW NO. 15-2016
A BYLAW TO REGULATE THE SPEED OF HEAVY MOTOR VEHICLES
The Council of the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137 in the Province of Saskatchewan
enacts as follows:
1.
In this Bylaw the expression:
(a) "public highway" shall have the meaning ascribed to it by The Highways and Transportation
Act, 1983-84, but shall not include a provincial highway as designated pursuant to such
Act:
(b) "heavy vehicle" shall mean a vehicle with or without load which alone or together with any
trailer, semi trailer or other vehicle being towed, weighs 8 tonnes (8.818 tons) or more .
2.
No person shall operate a heavy vehicle at a greater speed than sixty (60) kilometers per hour on any
public highway within the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137
3.
Signs indicating the maximum speed and weight shall be erected where appropriate.
4.
Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this bylaw is guilty of an offence and
liable on summary conviction to the penalties provided in the general penalty bylaw of this
municipality.
