BYLAW NO. 2023-11
A BYLAW TO REGULATE THE SPEED OF VEHICLES ON MUNICIPAL ROADS
The Council of the R.M. of Val Marie No. 17, in the Province of Saskatchewan, enacts as
follows:
Short Title
1. This Bylaw may be cited as the Municipal Speed Bylaw.
Definitions
2. For the purpose of this Bylaw:
a. "Municipality" means the R.M. of Val Marie No. 17.
b. "Municipal Road" means a roadway that is under the direction,
management, and control of the municipality.
c. "Vehicle" means a vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer or a motor vehicle as
ascribed to by The Traffic Safety Act.
Provisions
3. No person shall operate a vehicle at a speed greater than 60 km/hr on any
portions of the following roads:
a. beginning at the East road allowance of SE 12-05-16-W3 and travelling
north and north-easterly through Section 19-05-15-W3, Section 30-05-15-
W3, Section 31-05-15-W3, Section 6-06-15-W3, Section 7-06-15-W3, Section
17-06-15-W3, Section 20-06-15-W3, Section 29-06-15-W3, SE 32-06-15-W3, to
the West half of 33-06-15-W3.
4. No person shall operate a vehicle at a speed greater than 50 km/hr on any of the
following roads:
a. The road south of: SE 16-03-13-W3, and section 15-03-13-W3.
5. No person shall operate a vehicle at a speed greater than 80 km/hr on any
municipal road not described in section 3 or 4.
6. Signs indicating the maximum speed on the road described in section 3 and
section 4 shall be erected where appropriate.
Penalties
7. Any person who contravenes the provisions of this bylaw is guilty of an offence
and liable on summary conviction to the penalties imposed by The Traffic Safety
Act and The Summary Offences Procedure Act and/or any other applicable
legislation.
Enforcement
8. This bylaw may be enforced by any person appointed as a designated officer
pursuant to this bylaw and/or a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Repealing Previous Bylaws
9. Bylaw No. 6-18 is hereby repealed.
Coming Into Force
10. This bylaw shall come into force and take effect on the day of its passing.
